What are the differences between RAM & ROM memory?

Many people may confused is there any difference between ROM and RAM memory. Please have a look at the short passage below:

ROM (Read Only Memory) & RAM (Random Access Memory) are both vital components to any fast and productive computer.

However, contrary to what many believe, the two have almost nothing in common.

Here are just a few of the differences between RAM and ROM>>

RAM is…
RAM is Random Access Memory. This is reusable memory that the computer uses to run programs.

ROM is…
ROM is Read Only Memory. This is memory that has data permanently written on it and is usually not reusable.

Types of RAM
DDR (Double Data Rate), DDR2 and SDRAM are all types of RAM.

Types of ROM
PROM (Programmable Read-Only Memory) and CD-ROM are just two of the many types of ROM.

While RAM and ROM are quite different, they both have similarities. Both are types of memory and both are vital for your computer to operate properly.
